SIFU NEIL CHAN 

SKIL Arbitrator

Sifu Neil Chan started his kung fu training in the early 1970’s in Vancouver’s Chinatown under the legendary Grandmaster Chow Fook.  Sifu Chan has over 30 years of experience in the martial arts.  Neil has over 20 years of teaching experience and has produced many regional and national champions.  Sifu Chan is known as one of the top coaches in the region and is currently the Head Coach of the West Coast Warriors Competition Team of which he was a founding member as well as the Chief Instructor for the Dragon Sign Athletic Association of North America.

Sifu Chan had competed in tournaments throughout the Pacific Northwest region from 1979 onwards and is well known for his forms, weapons and fighting skills. In the 1980’s, he was rated in the Top 15 in Canada in Forms and was regionally rated #5 in Heavyweight Sparring in 2000 by the NBL.  He has been the chief director and promoter of several prestigious tournaments as well as being the 1996 National Blackbelt League Arbitrator for the Pacific Northwest Region.  His extensive martial arts background includes cross training in both soft and hard styles including karate, kickboxing, grappling, ancient and modern weaponry as well as traditional lion dance.  He has also appeared in the martial arts film “Fight to Win”. 

Sifu Chan is currently teaching along with his student, Sifu Ritchie Chow, at Kerrisdale Community Center in Vancouver, B.C.
